Like many areas in the mid west the recent very warm temperatures and rain over the last 36 hours has really done a number to the ski trails – there are now many bare spots and it is currently not skiable. The silver lining here is that once everything freezes up (occurring now) we’ll have a rock solid base for the rest of the season. The long term forecasts have chances of lights snows almost daily for the next 10 days or so…with a little luck we might have some good skiing back on Sunday.

It’s worth mentioning that near-by Valley Spur (near Munising) managed to hold their base. After some cleanup from the recent storm, and if they are able to till the ice, they should have some skiing this weekend.

Do your snow dances!
