14th Annual MGHS Noquemanon Ski Marathon General Race Information

Wax Recommendations

We recommend the following: Base Layer:  Ski*Go LF Graphite

Race Paraffin:  Holmenkol SpeedBase Mid or Ski*Go HF Orange

Testing Discussion –  We tested parraffins at the finish line this morning by feel on our matched test fleet.  Temperature was 30 degrees F at the time of the test, the forecasted race time temperature for Saturday. We will be testing powders this afternoon, and  topcoats tomorrow morning at the start.  Check back for the latest in test results or call our BNS Mobile number at 303- 656- 3886.  We will be testing kick tomorrow as well as Satruday morning before the  race.

Paraffin Test-

  1. Holmenkol Speedbase Mid
  2. Ski*Go HF Orange
  3. Holmenkol Speedbase Wet
  4. Ski*Go HF  Blue
  5. Holmenkol Matrix Blue
  6. Swix HF7

Other waxes tested – Holmenkol Matrix Black/Blue, Holmenkol Matrix Red

Wax notes – Holmenkol Speedbase Mid is a very good wax that we have had success with lately.  The speedbase granules are a high flouro wax that have the  nano-CFC coating like the Holmenkol pure flouro powders.  When applying make sure that your bench is level and that you are careful when shaking granules onto the ski as the they have a tendency to run a bit.  We like to apply this wax at a higher temperature than the package states, around 130 C.  At this temperature be very careful not to spend too much time on the ski.  For questions about application, give us a call on the Mobile number 303-656-3886, or stop by our booth at the expo Friday evening.

CONCLUSIONARY NOTES – BNS will have a table set up and will be testing top coats, kick,  and hand structure at the venue.  Come by to get our latest test results and recommendations.

Skier's families/friends will be able to sign up on-line to register for text message updates to  let them know when their skier has crossed the Forestville check point.

This will afford family to have an approximate idea when to get to the finish line to cheer!

Standard SMS Text Message Rates will apply.

Sign up for this service closes at 10 pm (ET) on Friday, January 27.

In addition to "text messaging", we may want to add that the "race results can be followed live" by going to www.superiortiming.com or www.noquemanon.com.
